Our Name

"Recreation Society" is pretty obvious. What you may not know if you don't live in San Antonio is that "Bexar" is part of the old Spanish name of San Antonio de Bexar and Bexar is now the name of the county where San Antonio resides.  In Old Spanish the "X" has a soft English "H" sound (Spanish now uses "J" for that).  Now if you take that and throw an English language Texas cowboy twang on it, you get "behr" and that has come to be spoken today as "bare" county.  It couldn't be more perfect for our name! 

[I'm not an etymologist and I am only surmising the origin of the pronunciation of Bexar. But I'm sure I can't be far off.]

We pride ourselves on providing a relaxed and safe environment for those who believe that being nude is natural. 

Our Profile

We do not discriminate against singles, gays, couples, races, or what-have-you.  It doesn't matter if you are part of a happy nudist couple, or have a reluctant SO, or are unencumbered, ALL who desire to associate themselves with others who believe that clothes-free recreation is an appropriate alternative to cold, clammy, clingy, skin-cutting swim-suits are welcome in Bexar Recreation Society. We are adamant that nudity does not equate to sexual appeal or gratification.  Sexual appeal is just part of human nature and happens with or without clothes.  At the core of our principles is that one can be nude in nearly all endeavors unless protection from the elements is needed.

What we are is a back-yard nudist group but we get out in the country with nature when we can (see proof of nature). 

One must, at all times, conduct oneself within the bounds of standard nudist decorum, i.e. no sexual conduct allowed, no sexual propositions of any kind allowed, sitting on towels is a common courtesy. We do not abide abusive language, abusive conduct, nor abuse of intoxicants.

We subscribe to the Naturist Society and American Association for Nude Recreation principles.  We are not a sex club nor swinger-tolerant.  We are a 100% membership club under AANR and part of AANR Southwest.

Naturism is sometimes described as a way of life that prescribes that the human body is not shameful or obscene and that bodies should be accepted in all their various shapes, sizes, colors, and with all their imperfections. Naturists often go by the saying "Body acceptance is the idea, nude recreation is the way."

What is nudism?

Some like to debate the difference between the terms but we don't see the point.  See above in our "Profile."
